    tonight tonight tonight oh oh.

that phil collins/genesis song popped into my head for a second. okay its gone.

So tonight is Bush's last State of the Union speech. I'll watch it and then fall asleep midway through like I always do. It appears that the State of the Union Drinking Game has been updated to fit current events, it includes: water-boarding (lean your head back and have a friend pour a shot into your mouth; gargle), mortgage or foreclosure (Yell out the name of your favorite "Monopoly" railroad and drink; Do NOT Pass Go) and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (1 (+1 if he pronounces it correctly)

    experience vs change

can someone please explain to me why hillary clinton is the experience candidate? is it because she spent 8 years kicking off the whitehouse easter egg hunt? is it because she authored a universal health care bill which failed miserably? or is it because she spent one term more than Obama in the senate?

what political experience besides being first lady and a 2-term senator does she really have? Barack Obama started as a community organizer straight out of college. He served in the Illinois state congress before becoming a senator.

Hillary Clinton isn't more experienced. She's just been on television longer. She has more experience with lobbyists and special interest groups. We've seen that shes very disliked by republicans and wasnt able to get her universal health care bill passed. Why should we elect someone whom the republicans won't want to work with?

Barack Obama has co-authored and passed a number of bi-partisan bills. He does not have the DC-insider experience that Hillary does, but that's a Good Thing. I wish the media would stop perpetuating this notion that Hillary is more experienced than Obama, it just isn't true. Being first lady doesn't mean she's qualified to be President.

    im a little scared

More evidence of Tom Cruise's craziness. Seriously, what goes on in this guys head freaks me out. His maniacal laughing, turning to dead seriousness about suppressors.. wow.

Key acronyms used in the video:
SP, Suppressive Person, an evil person; someone who criticizes Scientology in any way. (the two are one and the same in the cult) SPs are the cult's _1984_ Goldsteins, and give definition to the group and a common enemy. Supposedly, some large fraction of the total population is composed of these "anti-social" characters, variously cited as 2% or 20%. Hubbard listed 12 traits of the SP, such as talking in generalities, criticism, and so forth. SPs are formally "declared" with a goldenrod issue, and lists are kept of these dangerous people. Ars has adopted its own SP levels as a badge of honour; in Scientology, there are no levels of SP. SPs create PTSes, people who are influenced by them. See MU, PTS, Disconnection.
KSW, Keeping Scientology Working. A series of HCOPLs, Hubbard Communication Office Policy Letters, designed to ensure Scientology lasts for hundreds of years, and also that Hubbard's fondest wish, that his name be smashed violently into the history books, becomes a reality. (Didn't Manson have a similar desire?)

    stuff i got

as i said in an earlier post, i got some things for christmas that ive really enjoyed and recommend. I usually do a list of recommended (silly) christmas gifts before christmas, but I was too busy this year. so here is a real list ;)

A very nice person bought me an aeropress coffee makerwhich I now use every morning. I don't really like regular coffee, but I love lattes. I have an espresso maker but its very big and takes a long time to use and clean. The aeropress can make either regular coffee or espresso, you just have to heat the water and/or milk. It takes me all of 5 minutes to make the latte and clean up, its the best. Plus it saves me a ton of $ on lattes at the coffee shop.

I have become addicted to Rosebud Salve. Its great for chapped lips -and- dry hands.

Blonde Redhead's album 23has been on heavy rotation on my ipod, its really great.

When I saw this item on Amazon I couldn't believe I hadn't already found it at target or bed bath & beyond. Deep Water Bathcovers up the overflow drain so you can fill your tub up pretty much all the way. I love to take baths always hated how I could only fill the bath up halfway. It has a hole at the top so you can't overfill your tub and the suction cups really work! I took a 2 hour bath (seriously, i had some reading to do) and only a minimal amount of water got into it, but it could have been from my faucet dripping into the hole at the top. It's currently out of stock, hopefully amazon gets some more. Theres a similar one called bottomless bathbut I can't vouch for it...

As a supporter of Barack Obama I thought it was probably wise that I read his latest book, The Audacity of Hope.I'd already read his first book Dreams from My Father, which I really enjoyed. I'm about halfway through The Audacity of Hope and its also very well written and has become extremely relevant and consistent with his current platform. If you are at all curious about Barack Obama and would like to learn more about his views I definitely recommend that you read this book. Or if you'd just like a look inside the workings of the senate and modern politics, its a very interesting read.

I have a few more things I may post soon.

change is the name of the game

it seems that everyone is jumping onto the change bandwagon. Barack Obama's campaign was founded on a change platform, and since he did better than expected in Iowa, suddenly everyone claims that they can bring about change, from Bill Richardson to Mitt Romney. Hillary's been using the change slogan for a while, which is a bit comical, considering her election would mean Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton. Not exactly much change. This doesn't bode well for the Republicans though, if the popular opinion is that we need a change, that means having a Democrat in office. The GOP is getting concerned about Obama's sudden surge because they know that unlike Hillary, he can actually win.

Obama vs McCain? That's the way I'd like to see it go. No mud slinging, no special interests, just a real honest election.

    hey, thanks iowa

Wow, looks like a lot of Iowans right my blog. Haha, j/k. (I'm happy if 5 people read my blog.) Not only am I pleased to see that Barack Obama got Iowa's nomination, but I was happy to see how many people got involved! I wish more people in this country paid attention and got involved with politics. The crooks in washington wouldn't get by with nearly as much as they do.

Its also nice to see how different politics are today. A black (bi-racial) man and a woman are leading contenders. The two candidates that have dropped out (so far) are old white guys. Old white guys are usually the candidates who are the front runners. Could it be, could politics actually be changing?

At least in the Democrat party it seems to be that way. White guys are still leading the way amongst Republicans.

    hey Iowans, go caucus tonight!

Seriously, my vote doesn't count, so make yours count. Indiana's primary isn't until May, and my national vote doesn't matter b/c Indiana always goes Republican. I hate the electoral college. If a candidate promised to do away with the electoral college, regardless of political party, I'd vote for them. But it probably wouldn't matter anyway. Yeah, I'm a bit jaded.

So Iowans, do me a favor and exercise your right to matter in this country. Go caucus. Which, btw is a very odd system, at least for the Democrats.

    happy new year!

I'm excited for 2008, apparently this is the year of my 'golden birthday' because I turn 28 and my birthday is on the 28th. Maybe it will be an especially good one b/c its also 2008, which minus the two 0s in the middle, is also 28. I think I'm stretchin a bit ;)

I'm going to post some of my favorite gifts from christmas soon, I got some great ones from amazon that I highly recommend. I also have resolved and promised to post on here more often. I will do my best.
